How Big Boi got started
Owner Marcus Booker grew up on Cleveland Avenue in College Park, Georgia, moving furniture out of Grady-area walkups and shotgun houses through his twenties. He learned to wrap a mahogany sideboard in the thick of a Georgia August before he ever crossed a state line.
He spent nearly a decade behind the wheel of an over-the-road tractor, running the I-75 and I-95 corridors for a regional Atlanta van line. He stood in too many Highland Beach and Parkland driveways watching a written binding estimate double the moment the truck rolled past the Boca city line.
Why "Big Boi"
Customers hung the nickname on Marcus for two decades of Atlanta moves. When he married a South Florida native and relocated the family to Deerfield Beach, he opened Big Boi Movers out of a small yard off Glades Road in 2011 and put the name on the side of every truck — one flat number, his own crews, no brokered handoffs.
